I have 2 children who are high school students. My older children daughter is going to be grade 12 this September. So we are concerned about entering University very much. It is very different from Korea. Korea Universities have an examination that is called 'Daehak(University) Suhak(learning studying) Neungryuck(ability) Sihum(test)' and need to volunteer 40 hrs over for entering Unversity. But Canada's Universities need to submit grade12 scores and volunteer over 40 hrs. If your children lived below 4 years in non using English country, they have to take a TOEFL(ibt) test. Most Unversities require average 90 score of TOEFL. But there are Universities that require over 100 - i.e. University of Toronto, Waterloo computer engeneering, etc. Waterloo is famous for engeneering, Schulich school of business in York University and Queens are famous for business. Canada's Universities are very difficult to graduate. Especially a number of students are cut in their University when they are freshmen. So at grade 1 they have to study very very hard. I heard children who immigrate and study abroad feel difficulty very much English studying more and more. Refer to http://www.electronicinfo.ca/ if you want to get more informations about University entrance.
I want to overcome and enjoy my children all difficulties. I always prepare to help them. My husband think so,too. Even though they just have lived for 9 months roughly in Canada, I'm happy that they seem to adapt Canadian life well. I feel to thank for my children because they don't complain and study hard. Anyway, new challenge needs much effort.
